Zambia changed my life.  I was there as a Peace Corps volunteer from January 2007 through September 2007.

This was my first experience outside North America.  Snail mail was like gold, blog posts were once a month treats, and phone calls were dependent upon the wind and catching a signal on the mountain behind my hut!

During the first 3 months in training, I lived with a homestay family.  The Peace Corps offered technical, language, health, cultural and even bicycle maintence trainings.  But I learned the most about living the Zambian way of life from the Kanyumba family.

I was posted to the Eastern Province in Chadiza District.

People say a development worker will never forget their first mission.
